Quantum Art: Troll Portraits — The Face of the Inner Self. In the strange borderland between quantum art, consciousness, identity, and imagination, a face can become more than a portrait. It can become a portal. Quantum Art: Troll Portraits is a series that explores the inner troll—the raw, unfiltered parts of ourselves that slowly emerge through time. These trolls are not mythical creatures hiding beneath bridges. They are exaggerated reflections of the emotions, memories, fears, desires, contradictions, and truths we often hide from ourselves and from others. The series begins with a simple idea: with age, the soul begins to show on the face. Every portrait becomes a kind of quantum mirror. Instead of presenting one fixed identity, the image suggests many possible versions of the self existing at once. The gentle face may contain anger. The confident expression may conceal vulnerability. The ordinary human face may reveal a wild, ancient creature underneath. Here, the troll becomes a metaphor for the subconscious. Its distorted features represent the hidden layers of personality—the parts shaped by experience, time, trauma, joy, memory, instinct, and transformation. Wrinkles become pathways of memory. Eyes become portals into consciousness. Shadows become spaces where forgotten emotions wait to be discovered.
The visual language of the work draws on key ideas associated with quantum art: uncertainty, multiplicity, observation, interconnectedness, transformation, probability, and the relationship between reality and perception. The portraits do not claim that quantum physics literally creates the human psyche; rather, they use quantum concepts as an artistic metaphor for the mysterious and changing nature of identity.
